A 26-year-old record, fully documented — and a fiancé petition approved with no request for evidence
A U.S. citizen wanted to bring his fiancée to the United States, but he had two charges on his record from more than two decades earlier, both dismissed. SimVisa tracked down every record behind them, built them into the petition, and USCIS approved it without asking for a single additional document.
The situation
The petitioner met his fiancée in person in her home country after months of daily video calls. He wanted her to come to the U.S. so they could marry here — a K-1 fiancé visa.
Two things made him careful. He had two charges from 26 years earlier, both thrown out, and the fiancé petition asks petitioners about their criminal history. He had also been burned before by a business that
oversold and underdelivered, so he wanted to meet the attorney who would actually handle his case before he committed.
What we did
After the initial consultation in January 2025, he met with our supervising attorney before signing on, and the case opened later that month. Over four months the team:
• Identified the old charges as the issue most likely to slow the case, and put the supervising attorney on a call with him in March to plan around them
• Gathered the arrest records and original police reports, then followed up until a corrected record came through
• Collected supporting civil documents, including a complete, legible copy of his divorce decree
• Drafted statements to accompany the petition
• Sent the package through three reviews, the last by the supervising attorney, and filed it in late May 2025
I can't say enough about Vanessa and the extraordinary great job she did with my k1 Visa case and I can't say enough about Maggie the receptionist who always made you feel great whenever you called SimVisa with questions or concerns… Vanessa was 100% right to get all those records and the information from the original police reports… we did not leave one stone unturned… there was never a request for evidence only a biometric test and we were approved."
