Meet Erik and Jette-Mari

Erik is a U.S. Citizen. Jette-Mari is from Estonia.

Erik and Jette-Mari first met in Estonia when they were both interns at a church youth camp. Erik was a sports camp intern and Jette-Mari was a language camp intern. All the interns lived in the same building and spent a lot of time with each other throughout the summer. Afterward, they started dating. Although it was long distance, they had multiple opportunities to visit each other throughout the year.  The following summer, they both signed up for the same summer internship again. By this time, Jette-Mari had already applied and been accepted to a college in the U.S. as an F-1 visa student. The couple welcomed the opportunity to deepen their relationship and later married.

Q&A with Erik and Jette-Mari

How did you hear about SimVisa?

I was in the U.S. as a F-1 student. Unfortunately, there was a mistake made in my paperwork, and my work authorization fell through. My status in the US was jeopardized, and my mentor put me in contact with someone at SimVisa.

What did you like about SimVisa?

It was a very straightforward process. I like to do research on my own, and I had a lot of specific questions. How do you feel your life has changed for the better?

It was a huge weight lifted from us. With the mix-up, my green card process did not fit our original timeline, and there was a lot of uncertainty about how I could pursue future opportunities as graduation neared. But now I’ve been able to live a normal life. I’ve graduated from school, and have a full-time job!
