Meet Michael and Lydia

Michael is a US Citizen. Lydia is a citizen of Australia and Croatia.

Michael had been living and working in Australia for almost 11 years before he met Lydia. He was working as an avionics instructor and she worked for an Australian airline. They met at the airport and exchanged phone numbers. After talking on the phone for several weeks, Michael asked Lydia out on a date. After being together for 6 years, Michael had to move back to the US because of family medical issues. The couple continued their relationship long distance, each one traveling to visit the other. After four years of this, the couple married in Chicago. The transition thereafter was complicated due to Lydia’s job in Australia, the continuing medical challenges for Michael’s family, and the birth of the couple’s daughter in Australia. Eventually, however, the family was able to settle down in the United States and now live happily together.
